CVE-2026-73273

MediumCVSS 4.3
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

Gitea's Maven upload handler reads checksum uploads entirely into memory and returns before enforcing package-size quotas. An authenticated user with package-publish permission can submit an oversized body to a checksum endpoint, bypassing the upload quota and exhausting server memory.

Risk Assessment

An attacker with package-publish permissions can exhaust Gitea server memory, causing a denial of service for all users.

Recommendation

Update Gitea to a version containing the fix; until then, restrict package-publish permissions to trusted users.

Original NVD description (English source)

Gitea's Maven upload handler reads checksum uploads entirely into memory and returns before enforcing package-size quotas. An authenticated user with package-publish permission can submit an oversized body to a checksum endpoint despite legitimate checksum values being at most 128 bytes. This bypasses the upload quota on that path and can exhaust server memory.
