CVE-2026-61846

Medium
Published: —Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

Crass recursively parses CSS simple blocks and functions without a depth guard. An attacker-controlled value containing many deeply nested blocks can recurse until Ruby raises SystemStackError: stack level too deep, or cause excessive memory usage.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can supply a crafted CSS stylesheet with deeply nested blocks, triggering stack overflow or memory exhaustion, leading to denial of service.

Recommendation

Update Crass to a version containing the fix. Consider limiting nesting depth in CSS stylesheets processed from untrusted sources.
