Summary

Amazon::Credentials versions through 1.2.0 for Perl use the rand function to generate encryption keys. Before version 1.3.0, secrets were encrypted using a 64-bit key generated by the built-in rand function, which is predictable and unsuitable for cryptography.

Risk Assessment

Predictable encryption keys could allow an attacker to decrypt stored credentials if they gain access to the data.

Recommendation

Update Amazon::Credentials to version 1.3.0 or later, which uses a secure key generator.
