Summary

In Snipe-IT prior to version 8.5.0, the displaySig method in ActionlogController lacks sanitization of the filename parameter, allowing an authenticated attacker to traverse outside the intended directory and read arbitrary files accessible to the web server process.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can read sensitive configuration files, credentials, or other confidential data stored on the server, leading to information disclosure and potential privilege escalation.

Recommendation

Immediately upgrade Snipe-IT to version 8.5.0 or later, which includes a fix for the path traversal vulnerability.

Original NVD description (English source)

Snipe-IT is an IT asset/license management system. Prior to 8.5.0, ActionlogController::displaySig concatenates the route filename parameter into a private upload-directory path without sanitization, allowing an authenticated attacker to traverse outside the intended directory and read arbitrary files accessible to the web server process. This issue is fixed in version 8.5.0.
