CVE-2026-55457

HighCVSS 7.4
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In Goobi viewer prior to version 26.05, Configuration.getWebApiToken returns an empty string when the token is not configured, and AuthorizationFilter compares the supplied token against this default without checking it is non-empty. A request to a protected endpoint with an empty ?token= value is accepted.

Risk Assessment

An attacker could access protected API endpoints without a valid token, potentially leading to unauthorized access to data or functions. This constitutes an authorization bypass.

Recommendation

Upgrade Goobi viewer to version 26.05, which contains the fix. Also ensure that webapi.authorization.token is properly configured.

Original NVD description (English source)

The Goobi viewer is a web application that allows digitised material to be displayed in a web browser. Prior to version 26.05, Configuration.getWebApiToken returns the empty string when webapi.authorization.token is not configured. AuthorizationFilter compares the supplied token against this default without first checking that the configured token is non-empty. A request to any @AuthorizationBinding-protected endpoint with an empty ?token= value is therefore accepted. This issue has been patched in version 26.05.
