CVE-2026-52875
HighCVSS 8.4Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk11th percentile - higher than 11% of all known CVEs
Summary
Vulnerability in Streambert (before 2.6.0) in the perform-scheduled-backup IPC handler, which uses a renderer-supplied path for file operations without checking if it is in an authorized location. A compromised renderer can create directories, write files, and delete files anywhere.
Risk Assessment
An attacker can write and delete files on the system, potentially leading to data integrity compromise or system damage.
Recommendation
Update Streambert to version 2.6.0 or later. Validate paths supplied by the renderer.
Other vulnerabilities in Streambert
See all- CVE-2026-48056Critical
Streambert before 2.5.0 improperly validates executable paths supplied to the run-download IPC handler, allowing a compromised renderer to execute arbitrary local binaries with the app's privileges.
- CVE-2026-48046Critical
Streambert before 2.5.0 has an unvalidated auto-updater URL vulnerability that allows a compromised renderer to make the main process download and execute an arbitrary binary, resulting in remote code execution.
- CVE-2026-48055Critical
In Streambert versions 2.4.0 and prior, a Zip Slip vulnerability was identified in the subtitle extraction logic. The application does not sanitize archive entry filenames during extraction, allowing for path traversal attacks and writing arbitrary files to the host filesystem.
- CVE-2026-52877High
Vulnerability in Streambert (before 2.6.0) in the open-external IPC handler, which passes a renderer-supplied URL to shell.openExternal without protocol validation. A compromised renderer can open local files or launch applications.
- CVE-2026-52876High
Vulnerability in Streambert (before 2.6.0) in the open-path-at-time IPC handler, which passes a renderer-controlled file path to shell.openPath without validation. A compromised renderer can launch a local executable or script.
- CVE-2026-52873Medium
Vulnerability in Streambert (from 2.5.0 to 2.6.0) allows script injection in the Wyzie key redemption window, which removes the CSP header and lacks window open restrictions, enabling malicious script execution in the application context.
- CVE-2026-52872High
Vulnerability in Streambert (before 2.5.0) in the downloadSubtitleFile function, which accepts a renderer-supplied URL with file: scheme and copies the file to a chosen location. A compromised renderer can copy any file readable by the StreamBERT process.
Original NVD description (English source)
Streambert is a cross-platform Electron Desktop App to stream and download video content. Prior to 2.6.0, the perform-scheduled-backup IPC handler in src/ipc/storage.js takes settings.path from a renderer-supplied object and uses the resulting directory for fs.mkdirSync, fs.writeFileSync, fs.readdirSync, and fs.unlinkSync operations without checking that it is inside an authorized backup location. A compromised renderer can choose an absolute path or a relative traversal path to create directories and write a streambert-backup-[timestamp].json file containing renderer-controlled data. The pruning loop can also delete files in that directory whose names begin with streambert-backup- and end with .json. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.6.0.
