Summary

A flaw was found in libarchive related to undefined behavior in the zisofs decompression logic, caused by improper validation of the `pz_log2_bs` field read from ISO9660 Rock Ridge extensions. A remote attacker can exploit this by supplying a specially crafted ISO file, leading to incorrect memory allocation and potential application crashes, resulting in a denial-of-service (DoS) condition.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can remotely cause application crashes in software using libarchive, potentially leading to service disruption and system unavailability.

Recommendation

Update libarchive to a patched version and avoid processing untrusted ISO files.
