In Horilla 1.5.0, notification endpoints trust the unvalidated next parameter and redirect users to arbitrary external URLs. This allows an attacker to turn trusted application links into phishing or social-engineering redirects.

Risk Assessment

Users may be redirected to malicious sites impersonating the application, potentially leading to credential theft. The risk affects all users using notification links.

Recommendation

Update Horilla to a version fixing the vulnerability and implement validation of the next parameter (allowlist). Train users to recognize suspicious redirects.
