CVE-2026-41506

MediumCVSS 4.7
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

go-git is a pure Go git implementation library. Prior to versions 5.18.0 and 6.0.0-alpha.2, it may leak HTTP authentication credentials when following redirects during smart-HTTP clone and fetch operations. This issue has been patched in versions 5.18.0 and 6.0.0-alpha.2.

Risk Assessment

HTTP credentials may leak to an unauthorized server due to a redirect, potentially allowing an attacker to take over accounts or gain access to repositories.

Recommendation

Update go-git to version 5.18.0 or 6.0.0-alpha.2 (or later). Until updated, avoid clone/fetch operations through untrusted proxies or redirecting servers.
