Summary

Craft CMS versions on the 4.x branch through 4.17.8 and the 5.x branch through 5.9.14 are vulnerable to Server-Side Request Forgery. Exploitation requires the GraphQL schema permissions 'Edit assets in the <VolumeName> volume' and 'Create assets in the <VolumeName> volume' to be enabled. Versions 4.17.9 and 5.9.15 patch the issue.

Risk Assessment

An attacker with the required permissions can force the server to make requests to internal resources, potentially exposing sensitive information or enabling further attacks within the internal network. This could compromise infrastructure security.

Recommendation

Update Craft CMS to version 4.17.9 or 5.9.15 (or later). If updating is not possible, restrict permissions for editing and creating assets in the GraphQL schema.
