CVE-2026-23308

MediumCVSS 5.5
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In the Linux kernel, the pinctrl: equilibrium driver has a bug that causes a warning trace on every GPIO load. The function eqbr_irq_mask_ack() calls eqbr_irq_mask(), which additionally calls gpiochip_disable_irq(), leading to the warning trace. The issue was fixed by implementing the logic directly without calling eqbr_irq_mask() and eqbr_irq_ack().

Risk Assessment

The vulnerability only causes warnings in system logs and does not lead to data loss or remote code execution. However, it can clutter logs and hinder diagnostics, and in some configurations could theoretically affect GPIO interrupt handling stability.

Recommendation

Update the Linux kernel to a version containing the fix (commit addressing the described issue). If updating is not possible, monitor logs for repeated warnings and consider disabling unused GPIOs.

Original NVD description (English source)

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: pinctrl: equilibrium: fix warning trace on load The callback functions 'eqbr_irq_mask()' and 'eqbr_irq_ack()' are also called in the callback function 'eqbr_irq_mask_ack()'. This is done to avoid source code duplication. The problem, is that in the function 'eqbr_irq_mask()' also calles the gpiolib function 'gpiochip_disable_irq()' This generates the following warning trace in the log for every gpio on load. To fix this, do not call the 'eqbr_irq_mask()' and 'eqbr_irq_ack()' function. Implement instead this directly without disabling the interrupts.
