Low risk23th percentile - higher than 23% of all known CVEs
Summary
Vulnerability in the MySQL Server product of Oracle MySQL (component: Server: Optimizer). Affects versions 8.0.0-8.0.45, 8.4.0-8.4.8 and 9.0.0-9.6.0. An easily exploitable flaw allows a low-privileged attacker with network access to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of MySQL Server.
Risk Assessment
A low-privileged attacker can remotely crash the database server, causing unavailability of services relying on MySQL. Only availability is impacted, not confidentiality or integrity.
Recommendation
Update MySQL Server to a version containing the fix (outside the listed affected versions) and restrict network access to the database server to trusted sources.
