Summary

Parsl prior to version 2026.01.05 contains a SQL Injection vulnerability in the parsl-visualize component. The application constructs SQL queries using unsafe string formatting (Python % operator) with user-supplied input (workflow_id) directly from URL routes. This allows an unauthenticated attacker with access to the visualization dashboard to inject arbitrary SQL commands, potentially leading to data exfiltration or denial of service against the monitoring database.

Risk Assessment

Risk of unauthorized access to monitoring data or disruption of the database by an unauthenticated attacker, potentially affecting the integrity and availability of the monitoring system.

Recommendation

Upgrade Parsl to version 2026.01.05 or later, which includes a fix for the SQL injection vulnerability.
