MediumCVSS 6.9Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk4th percentile - higher than 4% of all known CVEs
Summary
Out-of-bounds read in the Intel(R) NPU Driver may allow a denial of service. An attacker with an authenticated user and a low complexity attack may cause a denial of service. The attack requires local access, no user interaction, and may impact integrity and availability.
Risk Assessment
A denial of service attack could make the system or services unavailable, potentially disrupting organizational operations and causing downtime.
Recommendation
It is recommended to update the Intel(R) NPU Driver to the latest version that fixes the out-of-bounds read.
Original NVD description (English source)
Out-of-bounds read for the Intel(R) NPU Driver for all versions within Ring 3: User Applications may allow a denial of service. Unprivileged software adversary with an authenticated user combined with a low complexity attack may enable denial of service. This result may potentially occur via local access when attack requirements are not present without special internal knowledge and requires no user interaction. The potential vulnerability may impact the confidentiality (none), integrity (low) and availability (high) of the vulnerable system, resulting in subsequent system confidentiality (none), integrity (none) and availability (none) impacts.
