Summary

The Search Atlas SEO plugin for WordPress in all versions up to and including 2.6.23 is vulnerable to authorization bypass because it does not properly verify that a user is authorized to perform an action. This allows authenticated attackers with subscriber-level access or above to overwrite the whitelabel settings password with an attacker-controlled value.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can unlock whitelabel-protected admin settings tabs, including whitelabel, general, and advanced configuration, enabling changes to the plugin and potentially the whole site configuration.

Recommendation

Update the Search Atlas SEO plugin to a version newer than 2.6.23 once available, and verify that the whitelabel password has not been changed.
