HighCVSS 8.1
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Exploitation Probability (EPSS)

Low risk
0.22%

11th percentile - higher than 11% of all known CVEs

Summary

In the revoked-key error path, a human-readable failure reason is built using sprintf() into a heap buffer, but the allocated buffer is too small for the final formatted message, which can lead to a write past the end of the heap allocation.

Risk Assessment

Out-of-bounds write can lead to memory corruption, potentially enabling arbitrary code execution or causing a system crash.

Recommendation

Apply a fix that increases the buffer size or uses safe formatting functions, and update the software to a version that includes the fix.
