Summary

A flaw in the OpenShift GitOps operator allows the ClusterRole reconciler to delete ClusterRole objects without validating ownership. A namespace-scoped Argo CD instance can delete a cluster-scoped ClusterRole by crafting a name collision, causing a denial of service.

Risk Assessment

An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to delete critical cluster roles, disrupting applications and processes managed by Argo CD, leading to service unavailability.

Recommendation

Immediately update the OpenShift GitOps operator to a patched version and implement resource ownership validation in Argo CD configurations.
