CVE Catalog

CVE-2026-124487

MediumCVSS 6.5
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

OpenEMR before 8.4.0 contains an improper authorization vulnerability in the non-patient POST /fhir/DocumentReference/$docref route that allows low-privileged users to generate any patient's CCDA. Attackers with only demographics and documents permissions can supply a victim patient parameter, then download the full-chart CCDA from Patient Documents to exfiltrate clinical data.

Risk Assessment

Low privileges are sufficient to leak the full clinical record of any patient, a serious confidentiality breach of medical data that may carry legal and regulatory consequences.

Recommendation

Upgrade OpenEMR to version 8.4.0 or later. Until patched, restrict access to the /fhir/DocumentReference/$docref route and verify user permissions.
