6th percentile - higher than 6% of all known CVEs

Summary

phpMyAdmin through 5.2.3 contains a stored cross-site scripting vulnerability that allows database users with CREATE privilege to inject script via unescaped table names in DesignerHistory.display(). Attackers can create a table whose name contains HTML markup that executes in another user's session when they add a condition on it in Designer query mode.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can execute arbitrary JavaScript in another phpMyAdmin user's browser, hijacking the session or performing actions on their behalf. This can lead to account takeover and unauthorized database operations.

Recommendation

Update phpMyAdmin to a version later than 5.2.3. Until patched, restrict CREATE privilege for database users and validate table names.
