0.14%

4th percentile - higher than 4% of all known CVEs

Summary

SQLite before 3.54.0 built with FTS5 contains a heap buffer overflow in fts5MergeRowidLists() that undersizes the output buffer when merging detail=none prefix doclists. An attacker who can populate a detail=none FTS5 table with negative rowids and run a prefix MATCH query can write past the allocation, corrupting heap memory and crashing the process.

Risk Assessment

Can lead to memory corruption and process crash during prefix MATCH queries on crafted data. Risk affects applications that let users write data into FTS5 tables.

Recommendation

Update SQLite to version 3.54.0 or later. Restrict the ability to write untrusted data into detail=none FTS5 tables.
