Summary

The Mapster WP Maps WordPress plugin before 2.0.6 does not perform any authorization check on a REST API route that writes post data. This allows unauthenticated attackers to overwrite the title of arbitrary posts, create arbitrary published posts, and overwrite the plugin's stored settings.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can modify site content, create unauthorized posts, and change plugin configuration, leading to defacement and loss of data integrity. This can also be used to distribute unwanted content.

Recommendation

Update the Mapster WP Maps plugin to version 2.0.6 or later. Review posts and plugin settings for unauthorized changes.
