Summary

A stack-based buffer overflow in the Android Auto connection handler of Alpine iLX-F511 devices allows a physically present attacker to execute arbitrary code. The lack of validation of user-supplied data length before copying to a fixed-length stack buffer enables remote code execution with root privileges.

Risk Assessment

An attacker with physical access to the device can gain full control of the infotainment system, potentially leading to malware installation or data theft.

Recommendation

Update the Alpine iLX-F511 device firmware to the latest version containing the fix. Restrict physical access to the device to authorized personnel only.
