CVE-2026-116744
MediumCVSS 5.3Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk37th percentile - higher than 37% of all known CVEs
Summary
ntop nDPI through 6.0 contains an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in dissect_softether_host_fqdn() in softether.c that compares host_name using the consumed byte count instead of data length. Remote attackers can send crafted short UDP datagrams on already-classified SoftEther flows, causing strncmp to read beyond the packet payload buffer.
Risk Assessment
Potential remote out-of-bounds read leading to information disclosure or crashes in applications using nDPI for traffic analysis. In network monitoring systems, this may disrupt operations or breach confidentiality.
Recommendation
Update nDPI to a version later than 6.0 if available, or apply the vendor-provided patch. Until updated, consider restricting SoftEther traffic processing or implementing additional data length validation.
