Summary

Open5GS versions 1.3.0 through 2.8.0 contain a heap out-of-bounds write vulnerability in parse_multipart(). An unauthenticated attacker can corrupt memory by supplying an empty multipart boundary.

Risk Assessment

A single crafted multipart/related request to the SBI interface of any network function can overflow the lookbehind buffer and crash the service. This leads to denial of service and potential memory corruption.

Recommendation

Upgrade Open5GS to a version containing the fix (later than 2.8.0). Until then, restrict access to the SBI interface and monitor for unusual multipart requests.
