Summary

A path traversal vulnerability was found in eventcatalog sdk up to version 2.29.0, affecting the getCustomDoc, writeCustomDoc, and rmCustomDoc functions in packages/sdk/src/custom-docs.ts. Manipulation of the options.path argument allows a local attacker to perform path traversal. The issue is fixed in version 2.30.0.

Risk Assessment

A local attacker could exploit this to access files outside the intended directory, potentially leading to data leakage or modification. The risk applies to environments using eventcatalog sdk for custom documentation handling.

Recommendation

Upgrade eventcatalog sdk to version 2.30.0 or apply the patch (a4f072a03f440d58230092e88d8b4893f4c6d6ca). Verify that no custom configurations bypass the new protections.
