Summary

An incorrect authorization vulnerability in OpenBao's ACL policy cache allows tokens to reference policies from arbitrary namespaces using specially crafted policy names. An attacker holding such tokens can gain capabilities of cached policies in other namespaces, including the root namespace, and act across namespace boundaries.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can gain unauthorized access to resources in other namespaces, including the root namespace, potentially leading to privilege escalation and data isolation breaches.

Recommendation

Update OpenBao to version 2.6.3 or later and review ACL policies for unusual policy names.
