CVE-2026-114103

MediumCVSS 5.3
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

adm-zip 0.6.0 contains a decompression bomb protection bypass that allows attackers to evade the maxOutputLength guard by targeting the asynchronous getDataAsync() path in methods/inflater.js. Attackers can craft ZIP entries with falsified small declared sizes and high-ratio DEFLATE payloads to exhaust memory in applications reading entries asynchronously.

Risk Assessment

Applications reading ZIP entries asynchronously can be driven to memory exhaustion, resulting in denial of service. The risk affects any system processing untrusted ZIP archives.

Recommendation

Update adm-zip to a version containing the fix or restrict processing of untrusted ZIP archives. Consider additional memory and time limits for decompression operations.
