CVE-2026-113710

MediumCVSS 5.9
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

ApostropheCMS prior to 4.33.0 has a self-service password-change endpoint that verifies the current password but does not use the login module's failed-attempt counter, throttle, delay, or lockout mechanism. An attacker with a valid authenticated session can submit repeated guesses for the current password without receiving a lockout or throttle response. This is fixed in version 4.33.0.

Risk Assessment

An attacker with a hijacked session can brute-force the current password without limits, potentially leading to full account takeover. Lack of throttling increases attack effectiveness.

Recommendation

Upgrade ApostropheCMS to version 4.33.0 or later. Additionally, enforce external rate limiting for password-change attempts at the WAF or reverse proxy level.
