CVE Catalog

CVE-2026-112940

HighCVSS 7.1
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In filelock from 3.20.4 until 4.2.1, ReadWriteLock let SQLite reopen the database and side files by name. On POSIX systems an attacker with rename access in a non-sticky parent can swap those names to cause overwrite or unlink operations; a writable adjacent hot journal is additionally required for attacker-chosen content overwrites.

Risk Assessment

A local attacker can cause overwrite or deletion of files used by an application relying on filelock, potentially leading to data loss or database corruption.

Recommendation

Upgrade filelock to version 4.2.1 or later. Ensure parent directories of database files have the sticky bit set.

This issue is fixed in version 4.2.1.
