CVE-2026-112939

MediumCVSS 4.7
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

In filelock from 3.22.0 until 4.2.1, SoftFileLock trusted a forged process identifier in a marker that an attacker could modify but not remove. This allowed an authorized contender such as another process of the holder's account or root to act as a confused deputy, remove the live marker, and admit another holder.

Risk Assessment

Potential violation of file lock mutual exclusion by a local user, which may lead to concurrent access to protected resources.

Recommendation

Update filelock to version 4.2.1 or later.
