Summary

OpenHealth through 0.2.0 contains a missing authentication and authorization vulnerability in the /api/health-data/[id] GET, PATCH and DELETE handlers that query records by ID without session or authorId checks. Unauthenticated attackers who know a HealthData record ID can read another user's medical record data and file metadata, overwrite it with arbitrary JSON, or delete it.

Risk Assessment

Unauthenticated attackers can access other users' medical data, constituting a serious confidentiality breach and potential exposure of sensitive health information. Overwriting or deleting records is also possible, violating data integrity.

Recommendation

Update OpenHealth to a version newer than 0.2.0 if available, or implement session control and authorId verification in all /api/health-data/[id] handlers. Restrict API access to authenticated and authorized users only.
