Summary

The MxChat plugin for WordPress in versions up to and including 3.2.25 is vulnerable to stored DOM-based cross-site scripting (XSS) via the 'feedback' parameter due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. Unauthenticated attackers can inject arbitrary web scripts that execute when an administrator visits the Transcripts page.

Risk Assessment

An attacker could execute arbitrary JavaScript in an administrator's browser, potentially leading to account takeover or other attacks. However, this requires the administrator to visit the injected page.

Recommendation

Update the MxChat plugin to a version later than 3.2.25. Additionally, consider implementing a Content Security Policy (CSP) and regularly reviewing user input.

Original NVD description (English source)

The MxChat – AI Chatbot & Content Generation for WordPress plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored DOM-Based Cross-Site Scripting via the 'feedback' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 3.2.25 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The stored payload is written by any unauthenticated visitor via a single POST to admin-ajax.php and detonates automatically when any administrator next loads the Transcripts page.
