CVE-2026-110639

CriticalCVSS 9.8
Published: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

@mborne/extract before 0.2.1 contains an OS command injection vulnerability. Attackers can supply shell metacharacters in archivePath or targetDir options passed to extract(), injecting commands into unquoted shelljs exec() strings in the unzip, 7z, tar-bz2 and gz extractors, running them with Node.js process privileges.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can execute arbitrary commands in the context of the Node.js application, potentially leading to server compromise, data theft, or further privilege escalation.

Recommendation

Update @mborne/extract to version 0.2.1 or later, or validate and sanitize archivePath and targetDir options before passing them to extract().
