Summary

The Rich Showcase for Google Reviews plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 7.1.6. Due to improper verification that a user is authorized to perform an action, an authenticated attacker with contributor-level access or above can retrieve the plugin's 127-character site-wide grw_auth_code authentication secret and use it to impersonate the WordPress site to the RichPlugins backend service at app.richplugins.com.

Risk Assessment

An attacker with a Contributor account can obtain the secret used for communication with an external service, enabling impersonation of the site and potential manipulation of data or service access. This can compromise data integrity and confidentiality.

Recommendation

Update the plugin to a version later than 7.1.6. After updating, consider regenerating the grw_auth_code secret if possible.
