Summary

ImageMagick before 6.9.13-57 and 7.1.2-32 has a memory leak in the wavelet-denoise operation, which fails to release allocated memory when a required resource cannot be acquired. Attackers can repeatedly trigger this operation under resource-constrained conditions to leak memory and degrade service availability.

Risk Assessment

Memory leak can lead to exhaustion of system memory and denial of service over time.

Recommendation

Update ImageMagick to 6.9.13-57 or 7.1.2-32 and restrict access to the wavelet-denoise operation for untrusted input.
