29th percentile - higher than 29% of all known CVEs

Summary

ImageMagick before 6.9.13-57 and 7.x before 7.1.2-32 contains a memory leak in the PNG encoder, which does not release allocated memory when libpng initialization fails. Repeated failed PNG encoding operations can exhaust memory.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can repeatedly trigger failed libpng initialization, leading to memory exhaustion and a denial of service. This affects application availability.

Recommendation

Update ImageMagick to version 6.9.13-57 or 7.1.2-32 (or later). Monitor memory usage and restrict processing of untrusted PNG images.
