MediumCVSS 5.4
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Exploitation Probability (EPSS)

Low risk
0.21%

10th percentile - higher than 10% of all known CVEs

Summary

The auth0.js library does not validate the auth_time claim in the resulting ID token against the requested maxAge value when the authorize() method is called with a maxAge parameter. As a result, an application may process an ID token that represents an authentication event older than the requested maximum age.

Risk Assessment

This could allow an attacker to exploit stale authentication sessions, increasing the risk of unauthorized access to user accounts.

Recommendation

It is recommended to upgrade the auth0.js library to a version that properly validates the auth_time claim, and manually check this claim in the application if possible.
