CVE-2026-104723
HighCVSS 8.8Summary
The LifterLMS plugin for WordPress up to version 10.2.1 is vulnerable to PHP Object Injection via deserialization of untrusted input. Authenticated attackers with 'edit_course' capability (e.g., instructors) can inject a PHP object, which may lead to file deletion, data theft, or code execution if a POP chain is present in another plugin or theme.
Risk Assessment
The vulnerability can be exploited to execute malicious code or delete files, potentially leading to site compromise if a POP chain is present. Without a POP chain, the risk is limited.
Recommendation
Immediately update the plugin to the latest version. Also, avoid installing unknown plugins and themes that may contain POP chains.
Other vulnerabilities in LifterLMS
See all- CVE-2026-14231Medium
The LifterLMS WordPress plugin before version 10.0.10 does not perform a capability check in one of its select2 query AJAX handlers, only verifying that the user is logged in. This allows any authenticated user with subscriber-level access to read the titles of internal post types such as coupon codes by supplying the post type.
- CVE-2026-14207Medium
The LifterLMS WordPress plugin before version 10.0.10 does not strip event-handler attributes from a course pricing field before storing and rendering it. This allows users with a course-editing role to inject JavaScript that executes in the session of an administrator who views the course.
Original NVD description (English source)
The LifterLMS – WP LMS for eLearning, Online Courses, & Quizzes plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to PHP Object Injection in all versions up to, and including, 10.2.1 via deserialization of untrusted input . This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with custom-level access and above, to inject a PHP Object. No known POP chain is present in the vulnerable software, which means this vulnerability has no impact unless another plugin or theme containing a POP chain is installed on the site. If a POP chain is present via an additional plugin or theme installed on the target system, it may allow the attacker to perform actions like delete arbitrary files, retrieve sensitive data, or execute code depending on the POP chain present. This vulnerability is only exploitable during lesson creation when a temporary lesson ID triggers the custom metadata path, and requires the attacker to hold a role with the edit_course capability, such as Instructor, Instructor's Assistant, LMS Manager, or Administrator.
