CVE-2026-103897
MediumCVSS 4.4Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk10th percentile - higher than 10% of all known CVEs
Summary
The Responsive Lightbox & Gallery plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'comment' parameter in all versions up to and including 2.7.9 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This allows authenticated attackers with editor-level access and above to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires the plugin's 'Comments' lightbox setting to be enabled (disabled by default), a moderator to approve the injected comment, and a site visitor to click the affected image to open the lightbox.
Risk Assessment
Attackers with editor privileges can inject malicious scripts that execute in visitors' browsers, leading to data theft, session hijacking, or malware distribution. However, additional conditions are required, reducing the risk, but it still poses a threat.
Recommendation
Update the Responsive Lightbox & Gallery plugin to the latest version with the fix. Also consider disabling the 'Comments' lightbox setting if not needed, and restrict editor account privileges.
