CVE-2026-103431

HighCVSS 7.7
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Summary

colmux in collectl before version 4.3.20.2 does not sanitize ANSI/VT100 terminal escape sequences in data received from remote collectl instances before displaying it. This allows a local user on a monitored host to inject escape sequences into the terminal of an operator running colmux, via a crafted process name (argv[0]).

Risk Assessment

A local user on a monitored host can inject malicious escape sequences into the operator's terminal, potentially leading to arbitrary command execution in the operator's terminal or tricking the operator into performing dangerous actions.

Recommendation

Update collectl to version 4.3.20.2 or later, which includes a fix. Also restrict access to monitored hosts and use secure communication channels.
