21th percentile - higher than 21% of all known CVEs

Summary

Ghost versions 5.2.0 through versions prior to 6.62.0 allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to abuse the Stripe Checkout flow to attach a paid subscription to an existing member, modify that member's name, and inject content into newsletters sent to the member. Depending on the recipient's email client, the injected content may be rendered, resulting in HTML injection or cross-site scripting (XSS).

Risk Assessment

An attacker can modify member data and inject malicious content into newsletters without authentication, potentially leading to session theft or code execution in recipients' browsers. This undermines trust in email communications and may compromise member account security.

Recommendation

Update Ghost to version 6.62.0 or later. Until patched, consider restricting access to the Stripe Checkout flow and monitoring for unusual member data changes.
