Summary

A vulnerability in the Dio library for Dart and Flutter affects the HTTP/2 adapter, which during redirects copies original request headers, including Authorization, Cookie, and Proxy-Authorization, to a request to a different domain. A server can return a redirect to a malicious domain that receives these sensitive headers. The issue affects versions from 1.0.0 to 2.8.0 and is fixed in version 2.8.0.

Risk Assessment

Organizations using applications with Dio and Http2Adapter may expose user credentials to interception by a malicious server, potentially leading to unauthorized access to accounts and systems.

Recommendation

Upgrade the dio_http2_adapter library to version 2.8.0 or later. If not possible, consider disabling automatic redirect following in the adapter configuration.

Original NVD description (English source)

Dio is a powerful HTTP client for Dart and Flutter. From 1.0.0 until 2.8.0, dio_http2_adapter follows redirects in Http2Adapter._fetch by copying the original RequestOptions.headers into the redirected HTTP/2 request without comparing the source and destination origins. A server contacted by an application can return a cross-origin Location redirect to a different-origin destination, which then receives preserved Authorization, Cookie, and Proxy-Authorization headers because RequestOptions.copyWith retains the full header map. The issue applies when applications use Http2Adapter for authenticated requests, and redirect following is enabled by default. This issue is fixed in version 2.8.0.
