CVE-2026-10042
CriticalCVSS 9.8Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk46th percentile - higher than 46% of all known CVEs
Summary
manga-image-translator contains a remote code execution vulnerability in the shared API server mode due to unsafe deserialization of untrusted pickle data in the share.py module. The /execute/{method_name} and /simple_execute/{method_name} endpoints deserialize attacker-controlled HTTP request bodies using pickle.loads(). A remote attacker can supply a crafted pickle payload to these endpoints to execute arbitrary code in the server process, resulting in full container compromise when running in the default Docker deployment as root.
Risk Assessment
The risk for the organization includes full compromise of the Docker container, which can lead to data theft, further attacks on infrastructure, or service disruption.
Recommendation
Immediately update manga-image-translator to a version that removes unsafe pickle deserialization, or temporarily disable the shared API server mode and the /execute and /simple_execute endpoints.
