Summary

The User Sync – Remote User Sync plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Cross-Site Request Forgery in all versions up to, and including, 1.0.2. This is due to missing or incorrect nonce validation on the mo_user_sync_form_handler() function. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to deactivate the plugin via a forged request, granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can remotely deactivate the plugin without the administrator's knowledge, potentially disrupting user synchronization and causing security consequences. This only requires tricking an administrator into clicking a crafted link.

Recommendation

Update the User Sync – Remote User Sync plugin to a version later than 1.0.2 that includes the nonce validation fix. Until patched, consider deactivating the plugin or limiting administrator privileges.
