CVE-2025-8682
MediumCVSS 4.3Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk15th percentile - higher than 15% of all known CVEs
Summary
The Newsup theme for WordPress is vulnerable to unauthorized plugin installation due to a missing capability check on the newsup_admin_info_install_plugin() function in all versions up to, and including, 5.0.10. This allows unauthenticated attackers to install the ansar-import plugin.
Risk Assessment
An unauthenticated attacker can remotely install an arbitrary plugin on the WordPress site, potentially leading to further compromise. The risk is high because no authentication is required.
Recommendation
Update the Newsup theme to a version later than 5.0.10 or temporarily disable it if no update is available. Consider auditing installed plugins for unauthorized changes.
