Summary

In ExtremeGuest Essentials before 25.5.0, the captive-portal may permit unauthorized access via a manual brute-force procedure. Under certain captive-portal SSID configurations, repeated manual login attempts may allow an unauthenticated device to be marked as authenticated and obtain network access, and Client360 logs may show the client MAC as the username despite MAC-authentication being disabled.

Risk Assessment

Unauthenticated devices may gain access to the organization's network, potentially leading to unauthorized traffic and further internal attacks. This may undermine guest and corporate network access controls.

Recommendation

Upgrade ExtremeGuest Essentials to version 25.5.0 or later. Additionally, review captive-portal and SSID configurations and monitor Client360 logs for unusual clients marked as authenticated.
