Summary

lz4-java 1.10.0 and earlier insufficiently clears the output buffer in Java-based decompressor implementations. A remote attacker can read previous buffer contents via crafted compressed input. JNI-based implementations are not affected.

Risk Assessment

In applications that reuse the output buffer without clearing it, this may lead to disclosure of sensitive data. The risk involves information leakage from process memory.

Recommendation

Update lz4-java to version 1.10.1 or later. Verify whether the application processes untrusted LZ4 input.
