Summary

aiomysql before version 0.3.0 does not check client-side settings before sending local files to a MySQL server. A rogue MySQL server can emulate authorization, ignore client flags, and request arbitrary files from the client via a LOAD_LOCAL packet. This issue has been patched in version 0.3.0.

Risk Assessment

An attacker controlling a MySQL server can exfiltrate arbitrary files from the client machine, leading to leakage of sensitive data, keys, or configuration. The risk applies to environments where applications connect to untrusted MySQL servers.

Recommendation

Update aiomysql to version 0.3.0 or later. Restrict connections to trusted MySQL servers and verify their identity.
