CVE-2025-61659
MediumCVSS 6.8Exploitation Probability (EPSS)
Low risk3th percentile - higher than 3% of all known CVEs
Summary
bash-git-prompt versions 2.6.1 through 2.7.1 insecurely uses the /tmp/git-index-private$$ file with a predictable name. The predictable filename may allow an attacker to interfere with data.
Risk Assessment
A local attacker can predict the temporary file name and potentially intercept or modify data. This may lead to information disclosure or code execution.
Recommendation
Update bash-git-prompt to a version newer than 2.7.1 or apply a patch. Consider using secure temporary file creation mechanisms.
