CVE-2025-58186

MediumCVSS 5.3
Published: Updated: Translated: NVD NIST

Exploitation Probability (EPSS)

Low risk
0.57%

45th percentile - higher than 45% of all known CVEs

Summary

Despite HTTP headers having a default limit of 1MB, the number of cookies that can be parsed does not have a limit. By sending a lot of very small cookies such as "a=;", an attacker can make an HTTP server allocate a large amount of structs, causing large memory consumption.

Risk Assessment

An attacker can cause memory exhaustion on the HTTP server, leading to denial of service (DoS) and application unavailability. This may disrupt critical services.

Recommendation

Apply a limit on the number of parsed cookies at the HTTP server level or use a server/proxy with such a limit. Monitor memory usage and implement DoS protection.
